A century of character, renewed.
Built in 1910, this Edwardian residence contributes to the distinctive architectural fabric of Toronto’s Regal Heights neighbourhood. The project renews the house from the outside in—preserving the craftsmanship and character that have defined it for more than a century while adapting it for contemporary living.
Challenges
After more than a century of use, the home required comprehensive renewal. The challenge was to improve its layout, comfort and performance without erasing the original proportions, materials and details that gave the building its identity. Interior changes and exterior repairs needed to work together as one conservation-led transformation.
Solution
Boldera led a full interior renovation and exterior restoration grounded in conservation rather than reinvention. Character-defining exterior elements and the building envelope were carefully repaired and restored, protecting the home’s historic presence within the streetscape.
Inside, original features were retained wherever possible while the plan was thoughtfully reconfigured to improve functionality, comfort and flow. New interventions were conceived as a quiet contemporary layer, suited to modern life while remaining harmonious with the home’s original architecture and craftsmanship.
