Redefining the modern Townhome.
Is it possible to design a townhome maintaining the individual identity of a detached? That challenge was the essence of the design development of this residential project.
Challenges
Boldera was engaged by a Toronto developer to reimagine the modern townhome. The goal was to create a design solution that would maintain each unit’s individuality, while enhancing the urban quality of the neighborhood.
Solution
The architecture is modern and clean, with a pattern of window openings that create a dynamic facade expression throughout the exterior of the development. By dividing each house into two separate volumes and displacing them, the design was able to maintain a detached home feeling to each unit.Â
The entrance is recessed under a canopy and clad in wood to create an inviting feeling. The material palette is simple, but tasteful, with a combination of wood, black brick, and stone tile.
Each backyard is it’s own private oasis, with a custom wood fence and pergola above the exterior deck. With the utilization of a NanaWall folding system, the living space can be extended to the exterior.
